Brief comments on the climate statistics for 2014 ·

2014 has become the warmest year in Coventry since annual records began in the city in 1895.

Of the fifteen warmest years in Coventry, all but one has occurred since 1989, with 1921 the only exception. Eight of these fifteen warmest years have been recorded since the Millennium.

In the past 30 years, only 5 years have recorded below average (1971-2000) temperatures in Coventry (1993, 1996, 2010, 2012 & 2013).

Looking in more detail at the records, we find that of the top forty two warmest years in Coventry since 1895, 26 of these have been in the past 33 years (since 1981).

This has been the wettest year in the city since 2012 (892.9mm). Looking further back in the archives, we find that only five years have been wetter than 2014 since 1895 (1912, 1954, 2007, 2008 and 2012).
